WHERE ARE THE ADOPTION EVENTS?
Most of our adoption events are held at various PetSmarts, Petcos and other locations. Check the FaceBook page to see where we will be.
WHAT KIND OF DOGS DO YOU HAVE?
99.9% of our dogs are mixed breeds; we call them “DNA-tests-waiting-to-happen”. Most of the puppies we have come from Shiprock, NM and are primarily Cattle Dog or Australian Shepard mixes. Our best guess is that they will be medium sized dogs, around 40 pounds. However, that is just a GUESS. We often don't know who either parents are, and even when we have the mom, we never had the dad.
I SAW A PUPPY POSTED ON YOUR PAGE, IS IT AVAILABLE?
Most puppies that we have available for adoption will be at the next adoption event. Puppies go fast, so it might be good to arrive 15 – 30 minutes before the start time. We cannot guarantee any specific puppies will be there or available - there are a lot of factors that have to be considered before a puppy goes up for adoption.
HOW DO I ADOPT?
Once you have met a pup you want to adopt at the event, you will fill out an adoption contract. A volunteer will go over everything with you including the spay/neuter policy, vaccine schedule, food they are eating, etc. We do not allow folks to adopt a puppy they have never met.
HOW MUCH IS THE ADOPTION FEE?
The adoption fee for a puppy starts at $450. We primarily accept cards through our Shelterluv system. We do not have a payment plans. The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, rabies, vaccines, and microchip. Adult dogs start at $250 depending on the age and breed. Prices are subject to change.
WHAT FOOD ARE THEY EATING?
Many of our dogs are eating Kirkland Chicken & Rice from Costco. You don't have to keep them on the same food. As long as it is a high-quality puppy food it will be fine. We recommend Authority or Simply Nourish from PetSmart or the Kirkland brand from Costco. Please don't feed them Puppy Chow or Pedigree Puppy.
ARE THEY VACCINATED?
All puppies will have started their vaccines before they are adopted. However, full immunity requires a series of three shots which will take about three months to complete. This means that dogs can't go on walks, to dog parks, PetSmart, etc. until they have immunity. Vaccines are done by rescue volunteers and we will try to find a volunteer in your area of town to complete the vaccines. However, we can't guarantee it. Vaccines can always be completed during adoption events and from 1 - 3 pm Tuesday - Saturday at the Paw Wash.
